Q. Why are we opening a campus in Brunswick?

A. From the beginning of Community Church, we have always had a heart to reach more people with the life changing message of Jesus Christ. In order for us to continually win others to Jesus and make Christ followers who live to make a difference, we fully sense the Lord calling us to expand off of St. Simons into the mainland of Glynn County to be a part of God’s greater work in our community.

Q. Where will the new campus be located?

A. Our initial Brunswick location will be located in the Glynn Place Mall next to J.C. Penney in the old Gentlemen’s Outfitters location and the two adjacent spaces to the right of this space for a total of 14,000 square feet, the sanctuary will seat between 400 & 500 people. The Mall ownership and management are actively working on a revitalization plan for the Mall area. They are excited to have Community Church as a potential part of their overall revitalization project.

Q. Will this be a permanent location?

A. No, we have signed a 3-year lease with a one-year option to extend.  We will continue to seek out a permanent location, but truly believe this option provides a great launching point for our Brunswick campus location.

Q. What will we call the Brunswick Campus?

A. Many people already refer to us as Community Church, so we will call ourselves Community Church and refer to our campuses as Community Church St. Simons and Community Church Brunswick.

Q.  When will the space be ready and what will it look like?

A.  Our team is already working with our local architect to begin planning and designing our new space. We will occupy the new space beginning March 1st for renovations.

Q. When will we hold our first service at the new location?

A.  Our goal is early/mid-August 2019 as school is back in session. We will hopefully run several test services prior to our official launch.

Q.  What will be the times of the services?

A.  Our service times will mirror the SSI times, currently 9 and 11am on Sundays.

Q. Will this be a separate church?

A. No, Community Church will be one church in multiple locations. The Brunswick campus will be an extension of our current ministry and outreach at Community Church, but we will have numerous staff who will be solely or mainly dedicated to our Brunswick campus. We will serve together under one leadership team, with one board of elders, one overall budget, and a unified vision.

Q. Who will be preaching (teaching?) at the new campus?

A. Primarily, the sermon will be a live video stream/feed from the St. Simons campus, although on occasion, the teaching will be live using our team of communicators. All other components of the service (welcome, music, etc.) in Brunswick will be live.

Q. Who will be leading the new campus?

A. Jon Blankenship, long time SSCC staff member, will serve as the Campus pastor of our Brunswick location. He will serve as a part of and in alignment with the overall vision of Community Church. Jon is not setting off to start his own church but to help extend our overall outreach as a church body. 

Q. Who will be leading worship at the new campus?

A. While we will seek to share vision and resources, the new campus will have its own worship leader and worship team. We have not yet hired our worship pastor for the Brunswick Campus, but that will be a part of our time line in the coming months.

Q.  Will we have children and student ministries at the new campus?

A.   Yes, we will offer Tiny Town for children birth-kindergarten and KidJam for 1st -5th grade students on Sunday morning and middle and high school ministry at a day and time to be determined.

Q.  Will there be any additional ministry offerings during the week at the new campus?

A.  In the beginning, we do not plan on offering any weekday ministry opportunities so that we can focus on Sunday mornings.  We will keep you informed on future opportunities.

Q. Will this change anything at our St. Simons location?

A. We anticipate that there will be individuals and families that currently attend and serve at our SSI campus that will choose to be a part of the new campus launch. We want to see at least a launch team of 100+ committed to go and be a part of making this campus a huge success. That means we will also have more opportunity for people to step up here at our SSI campus to join our team and serve. It will be a great opportunity for all of us to step up and make a difference.

Q. Will the Brunswick location have separate elders?

A.  No. We are ONE church with multiple locations, so the governing elders will lead all campuses.

A.  PRAY – pray for God’s favor to continue to open doors and give us success.

SERVE – Find a place to serve at SSI campus, or commit to joining the Brunswick campus team and serving there.

GIVE – Be a faithful contributor to ensure we successfully fund the mission God has called us to. We want to continue to offer vibrant ministry with great staff at our current location while doing the same for our new location.

Q.  Can I designate a donation specifically for the new campus?

A.  Since we are one church with multiple locations, all donations to the general fund will be used for operating expenses for both campuses. If you would like to make a donation over and above your regular giving to assist with the renovation/equipping of the new space, you can designate that gift for the New Campus.  You can add New Campus to the memo line of your check or if you are giving online you can choose Building/New Campus.
